
Composer and trombonist JC Sanford received his D.M.A. in Jazz Studies at New England Conservatory where he studied with jazz legend Bob Brookmeyer. He co-leads the jazz orchestra The Schumacher/Sanford Sound Assembly which features his own compositions. He has had his works performed by the Dave Liebman Big Band, the Chico O’Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Big Band, the Danilo Pérez Big Band, the Harald Rueschenbaum Jazz Orchestra in Münich, and a number of universities and high schools nationwide. As a trombonist, Sanford has performed with John McNeil, Danilo Pérez, George Schuller, as well as his own groups Triocracy and Triptych. In addition to his conducting duties with the Sound Assembly, Sanford also conducts the Grammy nominated John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble, Jentsch Group Large, and the Alice Coltrane Orchestra featuring Ravi Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette, and Charlie Haden. He is currently Director of Jazz Studies at Le Moyne College.
