Songs from the Hudson River, our latest project, will be performed again on Sunday March 22nd from 8:30pm to about 10:00pm at Roulette (20 Greene Street). This performance is a slightly expanded version than the one we did at Barbes a month ago, with new songs by Yumiko (including a great sing along, ala Pete Seeger!) and some of Joy's own compositions.
From my previous post about the project, I mentioned that Songs from the Hudson River is a collaboration with singer-songwriter Joy Askew in honor of the Hudson River Quadricentennial Celebration going on throughout 2009.
The performance features Joy and a 6-person Pulse ensemble featuring the outstanding musicians Dan Willis (woodwinds), Lis Rubard (horn), Frank Lowe (violin), Will Martina (cello), Jesse Breheney (bass), and Diana Herold (percussion). Even some of the Pulse composers get into the performing act, with JC playing piano on his piece and Jamie playing guitar on many of the compositions, including a lovely duet with Joy!
Come out and share the beginnings of Spring with us. We hope to see you there!
Joe
