In this latest installment of the Sihr Halal Pulsecast, composer Yumiko Sunami tells us about "Searchings," a piece inspired by Barbara Bordnick's extraordinary flower photography. Yumiko talks about the hesitation she felt when attempting to combine traditional instruments from her native Japan (koto and shakuhachi) with Arabic percussion and laptop manipulation, and the pleasant surprise she felt when she realized how those instruments could be combined harmoniously.
