I haven't seen this mentioned in the new music blogosphere yet (perhaps everyone else found out about it aeons ago) but on Sunday, June 4, there's a Bang on a Can Marathon at the World Financial Center -- part of this year's River to River festival.
The lineup is pretty sick -- after the customary Frightening of the Children at 11:30 AM, things kick off in earnest at 1 PM with Anthony Braxton's Composition #19 for 100 tubas -- or rather, 4 groups of 25 tubas. Marching.
After that, we get:
Alarm Will Sound (doing their Aphex Twin covers and hopefully some other stuff too... ?)
Amiina
Bang on a Can All-Stars
Maya Beiser
Don Byron Dominic Frasca
Gamelan Galak Tika
Gutbucket

All gloriously free. It'll be like Dave Chapelle's Block Party, for new music nerds. Without the, um, block. Anyway, I'm so there.
